Where to begin?
I grew up in Fort Collins, Colorado. Its about 60 miles north of Denver. Nice quite little town that has been experiencing some growing pains over the last few years. It has remained in the top 50 places to live for around 10 years and was listed as the number one place to live for a couple years running.
After high school, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my lie, so I joined the Navy. I joined the service to help pay for my education. I wanted to earn a degree and thought the best place to do that would be on a carrier. I asked for a carrier out of Washington and ended up on a submarine in Georgia. I’m sure someone got a good laugh out of that. As it turned out, it was one of the best things that could have happened to me. I served on the USS Louisiana SSBN 743. The baby in the trident submarine fleet. I had many roles aboard the ship. My main three jobs included water chemist, radiation specialist, and mechanic. To quote A Tale of Two Cities, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times”. I had some of the toughest moments of my life and made some of the best friends of my life. I literally trust my life with them and did so on 6 deterrent patrols. If I had it to do all over again, I would in a heart beat. I would only change one thing during that time, how I invest.
While I was serving I did very well saving money, earning a degree and putting myself on a path to success, or so I thought. I was more then content to work for 30 years and retire. It wasn’t until I got out and was working an engineering job in Sheridan, Wyoming that my eyes were opened. I read Rich Dad, Poor Dad and have been on a collision course with success ever since.
Here I am today, I am a chemist at a coal plant here in Denver and I am doing my best to exit the rat race. My goals are to start renting houses and work my way into multiplexes. I also plan on tinkering with little pet projects of mine. The first step in my goals required me to build some cash and credit. To do so, I will be buying my first house. Follow along with me if you will.
Hello Bilge (Semper Fi )
Wow, looks like you stay busy! I am one of the newbies to the Fastlane forum. Haven’t posted but an intro to date. Had a lot of mis fortune come my way the past two years.Wanted to ask if you have the auctioning of homes going on in Colorado like they do back here, east of the ol’ Miss.
I included my web, capture page for you. Think you will find the program it leads you to useful for your customers. Very powerful stuff. Takes a lot of learning to understand it though.
Anyway, looked like you could use a funding source that would help keep your affairs private and excel you to a whole new level of doing commerce.
Feel free to mail me. Thank you for your Service to our Great country. Damn shame Washington forgot our roots, huh!
-Just linked to you from our new Blogroll section at http://www.tomtarrant.com. Hope all is well, keep up the great work and have a good year!

So you were a nuclear mechanic. I served on CVN 65 the Enterprise out of Norfolk Va. I was a ET(Nuclear) Glad to know that i am not the only Nuke that wants to do realestate
Always enjoy running into other nukes. I was an ELT and mechanic. On subs you get (have) to be both lol.
Hi, I found your blog through Scott, Steph, and Shae’s! I might say, this is a very interesting blog as I’ve know a few other investors who’ve done the same thing – live in a house, and then flip it. Then, they find a new one to live in and keep doing it – it’s an interesting concept. Though, I guess it would make for a lot of moving, lol!
Looking forward to reading more of your blog!
Good to see you over here. Ive enjoyed reading your blog several times. It does make a for a bit of moving, but if you buy right and pass the equity onto the next house you can be free and clear in 6-8 years without extra payments and in a much better house then you could afford before. Thats our goal anyway. Scott and Shae are both very good folks and I check their blogs daily. Its nice to be sharing the same experiences with other go getters.
Greetings,
I’m a Denver resident who’s been reading the bawldguy.com blog. I was curious if you could contact me as I have a couple of questions regarding his blog (For what it’s worth, I have no website to pimp and I’m not making a sales pitch for anything).
Much thanks.
