Goals

Let’s talk goals. Something everyone should have. Ive been working on my goals for some time now. I have them in two forms. Written and visual. I have the written goals as specific ideas or things I want to accomplish. The visual goals or “Vision Board” is my daily reminder of my written goals. I got this idea from Sonya, a very successful woman in the storage rental business.

Vision Board

If you notice I have a lot of items on there including a trip to Europe, some vehicles, a dog, solar panels, SFR, apartments, and some very scenic views. I used photoshop to create this picture and made it my desktop background. Its my daily reminder why I am doing what I am doing. Since the SFR is pertinent to this blog, I will focus on that for that written portion of my goals.

My goal is to exit the rat race through the purchase of SFR and eventually flipping those little green house into red hotels (aka: apartments).

The first step to that goal is purchasing my very own SFR. I won’t purchase just any home, but a house that has some equity, is in an area poised for appreciation, and is well with my budget. Currently I am a renter. I am paying down my landlords mortgage. This does not appeal to me. By purchasing my own home, I get the tax benefits of homeownership while also putting some of my “rent” towards the equity of my own home. Because of my plan, I will essentially be putting money back into my own pockets via equity in the house. The house will improve my credit and provide me the equity to pursue more houses and eventually apartments.

Like all goals, they need a time frame. I will be in my first home within 3 months. I will be in a 2nd home within 1 year. I will be in apartments within 30 months. In my next post, I’ll talk about getting my first home and some of the steps I have taken so far.
